The First 72 Hours After an Emergency
When a major emergency occurs, emergency services, power companies and relief agencies often experience extremely high demand. While help will arrive as soon as possible, it may take time for support to reach every community — especially in widespread events such as storms, fires or floods.
That’s why it is important to be prepared to look after yourself, your family, and your pets for the first 72 hours following an emergency.
Toolkit
The First 72 Hours has been developed through the collaboration of various Victorian councils. The project is an emergency preparedness initiative, primarily in regional Victoria, Australia, designed to help households and businesses prepare for disasters when emergency services may not be immediately available.
