The South Gippsland Rural Strategy – where to from here?
In order to regain full planning powers for its rural areas it will be necessary for Council to present a completed Rural Strategy to the Minister for Planning. Council has established a Reference Group to progress the development of the Rural Strategy. It is expected that the group will report to Council with an Issues Paper by the end of November.
The Draft Rural Strategy was prepared in 2008 with a public consultation period running from August to October 2008. The Draft Strategy is presently being reviewed in light of the feedback received during the public consultation and the events occurring in the interim, including Amendment C48.
