| 1892 | Great Southern Railway extended from Toora to Port Albert and had a station in Welshpool |
| 1892 | Unoffically named Port Welshpool for being the Port used for the Welshpool railway |
| 1904 | Tramline built to transfer fish catches from the Port to Welshpool Railway Station |
| 1930 | A long jetty was built and used in World War II by minesweepers and vessels |
| 1960 | Port Welshpool was used by ships and barges for oil exploration in Bass Strait |
| 1990 | Passenger and vehicular ferry began operating a service to Tasmania for 3 years |
