Mirboo North local Denise Rorie, has been a dedicated volunteer at the Mirboo North Op shop for the last 20 years and also a valued member of the Friends of Mirboo North Aged and Community Services for the past nine years. Over this time Denise has held significant leadership positions such as four years as President and is currently residing as the secretary. Other achievements include receiving a certificate of appreciation on International Volunteer Day for her contribution to her community in 2010.
Being a well-known and respected member of the Mirboo North community, Denise has spent countless hours volunteering her time and efforts to assist in emergency situations. Such as working with the Red Cross and tending to those who needed help during the bushfires. She is also an avid and regular volunteer of her local op shop, where Denise is more than willing to help out those in need. Whether it be struggling families or individuals, she has also helped raise over $5,000 dollars through her untiring efforts.
Denise devotes hours of her time across the shire often visiting the local senior citizens home. To help prepare monthly meals in order to raise money for the community through Friends of Mirboo North Aged and Community Services, contributing her time to high tea events and Christmas celebrations. But she doesn’t just stop there, with her generosity and kindness extending to external community groups. Such as collecting and distributing clothing etc. For women in war torn countries.
Known as the go to person for her local op shop, it’s clear why such a selfless woman has been nominated for this award.
