Venus Bay kerbside and recycling collection services

At the Ordinary Meeting of Council on 22nd July 2015, Council resolved to implement a compulsory kerbside garbage and recycling collection service for all residential properties in Venus Bay.

It is expected that the introduction of compulsory kerbside services will assist in addressing ongoing issues associated with the dumping of household waste in and around public litter bins in the area.  Although the illegal dumping is most prevalent during busy holiday periods, it is a year round issue and significantly detracts from the visual amenity of Tarwin Lower and Venus Bay as well as polluting the local environment.

The compulsory service period will run from 1 November to 30 April each year, replacing the existing optional 6-month service that is currently in place for the same period.  The service will include a 120L garbage bin collected weekly and a 240L recycling bin collected fortnightly.  Weekly recycling collections will be provided from Christmas Day through until the end of January each year. 

An optional 12-month service is also available, but not compulsory.

Collection will occur on Mondays, beginning 2nd November 2015.

Residents that have currently opted for an optional 6-month or 12-month service do not need to take any action, their services will continue as normal.

The costs associated with the new services are provided in the following table. Please note that the fees are subject to pro-rata amounts throughout the year.
