Youth Council

What is the South Gippsland Youth Council?

The main function of the Youth Council is for young people to get together and take an active part in helping youth activity in South Gippsland. YC members range between 12 to 25 years of age. Generally we have about 15 young people on the team from across South Gippsland.

Meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month, beginning at 415pm and ending at about 5.30pm; held at various locations across the shire. We aim to get representation from right across South Gippsland, and will help with travel assistance (such as a taxi) if you can’t get to meetings.

To give an example of what you may be doing on the Youth Council could include: helping run a youth projects, being involved with the Youth Leadership Program, hearing inspirational guest speakers and having the opportunity to participate in workshops for teambuilding and leadership.

It’s much more than just having fun you also will have some great opportunities to develop your confidence and communication skills. You’ll meet other youth leaders from many different places and build up a social network of friends. Everything you achieve and learn while being a YC member will be helpful for your future studies and employment.

So what are you waiting for! We would love to hear from you!
