| Cr Mohya Davies | | A long time resident and community worker in the Corner Inlet area, Cr Davies brings a wide range of skills and experience to Council, and a keen ear for the concerns and wishes of her local community.
As a Kindergarten teacher and a mother of six, Mohya is particularly interested in the health and wellbeing of families, and the availability of quality education for children of all ages. She has taught at Meeniyan, Foster and Fish Creek and is well known in the area.
“With the influx of new and ‘lifestyle’ residents settling in our region, we need to be diligent in balancing their needs with those of the established community, including farmers,” she said.” I hope too that I can bring a unified approach of Council even working more closely with the community.”
Cr Davies is also keen to ensure that small businesses are well supported and robust enough to prosper and provide employment and a future for young people.
She is a member of the South Gippsland Hospital Board, Foster Community Association and the Foster Chamber of Commerce. With her husband John, they are business operators in the Corner Inlet area, running a small farm, a retail butcher shop and an accommodation business.
In her spare time Cr Davies enjoys travel, bushwalking, gardening and spending time with her family.
