Cr Jackson brings a fresh youthful perspective to Council, backed by a strong academic background, a passion for community and local knowledge.
Mimmie is a solicitor with a local legal practice. She studied at the University of Melbourne, graduating with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours), Bachelor of Arts (Politics) and Diploma of Modern Languages (Japanese).
Her strong interest in community and Local Government has been long evident, participating in the South Gippsland Youth Council whilst at school, being awarded South Gippsland’s Young Citizen of the Year in 2003 and undertaking an internship with the Governance Department at Council as part of her studies.
Mimmie’s particular areas of interest are planning, infrastructure, sustainability, transport, community engagement and law.
“My vision for South Gippsland is that we have vibrant communities in well planned environments governed by an effective Council,” says Mimmie.
A Leongatha local from birth, Mimmie is involved in the Leongatha Progress Association, the Leongatha and District Australia Day Committee and the Leongatha Uniting Church.
In her spare time she enjoys playing soccer, jogging, reading and Japanese conversation.
