| Strzelecki Ward
| |
| Cr Deane brings extensive experience to the role of Councillor from her sixteen years career as a senior executive in the State and Commonwealth public service.
Since moving to Loch in 1991 with her husband, Cr Deane has been fully involved in community affairs across the shire and has worked with many local groups and organisations.
She has been Chairman of Council’s Community Advisory Committee and Public Health Plan Committee, and is listed in the 2008 Who’s Who in Victoria for her extensive community work.
Jennie’s particular areas of interest include climate change and its potential impacts on agriculture, supporting young people to remain in the shire, strengthening small communities and managing growth in rural townships.
“We need to set clear targets to address climate change impacts in the shire, establish town plans for Meeniyan and Poowong, and improve the recreational amenities in our small towns,” she said. “ Now that Coal Creek’s new directions are so successful, we need to find ways for it to become financially viable. After much debate on the heavy vehicle alternative routes for Korumburra and Leongatha, we must obtain State Government commitments to fund them, so that we can redirect large vehicles out of our town centres.
Married with four step-children and six grandchildren, Cr Deane’s hobbies include bushwalking, reading biographies and listening to and making music.
