Planning Scheme Amendments - C65: Rezoning at 77 Gibson Street, Leongatha

The report of the Independent Planning Panel considering submissions to Amendment C65 has been received and can be viewed below. Council adopted Amendment C65 at its Ordinary Council Meeting on Wednesday 27 April 2016. The Amendment has now been approved and is part of the South Gippsland Planning Scheme.

Council has received a request to amend the South Gippsland Planning Scheme. The proposal is to change planning controls over 60 hectares of land at 77 Gibson Street, Leongatha and rezone a smaller portion of this site to allow residential development.

  • Rezone approximately 12ha of Farming Zone to the General Residential Zone 1
  • Apply a Development Plan Overlay to the larger site (see Explanatory Report); and
  • Remove the flood and erosion controls (Environmental Significance Overlays 5 & 6) from the land.

The exhibition period has now closed and 17 submissions were received.

Submissions were presented to Council on 28 October 2015 with a request for the Minister for Planning to appoint an Independent Planning Panel to consider the planning merits of the proposal.

The Planning Panel Hearing occurred on Friday 5 February 2016. The Panel Report has been received and can be viewed here.
