Australia Day Photography Competition | South Gippsland Shire Council

Submissions are now open for the South Gippsland Australia Day Photo Competition. Embrace your inner-photographer and take a shot of our beautiful region.

The theme for the competition is Australia Day: South Gippsland - Our Home,

All photos must be taken in, or in close proximity to, South Gippsland.

There are two prize categories - an open category with a $500 prize and junior category (under 15) with a $300 prize.

The competition closes on Sunday 18 January 2026.

Winners will be announced on 26 January 2026.

Terms and conditions:

Photos and films must be taken in the South Gippsland region or nearby.
Photographers must be residents or ratepayers of South Gippsland Shire.
Employees of South Gippsland Shire Council are not eligible to enter.
All people appearing in the films or photographs must give their consent to be included.
Photos must be your own work with the exception of parents/carers who can submit on behalf of their child.
No more than two photo entries per person.
Winners will be selected by a panel comprising subject matter professionals and South Gippsland Shire Council Councillors.
Submitted images will be included in a video collage of this year's entries that will be shown on Council's Facebook page and website and the winning photos will be promoted in local newspapers. Ownership of the images remains yours and submissions will not be used outside of this year's competition.
