Fish Creek Streetscape

September Fish Creek Streetscape Update

The following works for the Fish Creek Streetscape have been completed ;

  • The handrails have been installed along the path through the parklands and the connection to the BP.
  • The installation of the kerb along the Falls Road and Ryan Street intersection.
  • The works to the Centennial Fish Creek sign have been completed.
  • The installation of bluestone pavers and exposed aggregate concrete in the front of the stores in Falls Road.
  • The installation of underground power through the north side of Falls Road.

The following works for the Fish Creek Streetscape are upcoming;

  • Continuing the installation of the kerb along Falls Road.
  • The installation of undergound power through the north side of Falls Road, updating the connection to buildings in Falls Road.
  • Continuing to remove and replace the exposed aggregate concrete footpaths and bluestone pavers in Falls Road in front of the shops.
  • Connecting the underground power to buildings on Falls Road.

Updated Streetscape Works

Location of the works:

  • Falls Road – from the Great Southern Rail Trail intersection and up past Ryan Street.

What will be happening?
The works taking place along Falls Road will include:

  • Formalised intersections and enhanced pedestrian connectivity and safety, including a formal raised zerbra crossing in the town CBD and median crossing for the Great Southern Rail Trail crossing;
  • Improved street lighting;
  • Installing existing and new street furniture, and public amenities;
  • Below ground storm water drainage system;
  • Concrete paving along shop fronts;
  • New garden beds; and
  • Parallel and angled parking as well as an accessible path from Falls Road through to the Foster Road bus stop.

The ANZAC cenotaph and garden bed will be preserved in their current state and made accessible on significant days such as ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day.

There are also plans to realign the “1884 Fish Creek 1984” garden bed approximately one meter to the right to fit in with the streetscape works.

When will the works be taking place?
Works are expected to commence during February 2025 and are expected to be completed by early 2026.
