Council assesses submitted Development Plans against the requirements of the Planning Scheme and refers them for comment, both internally to other Council departments, such as Infrastructure Planning, and externally to relevant authorities, such as Department of Transport.
Proponents are provided feedback (request for further information) on any matters that require explanation or change.
The final Development Plan may be exhibited publicly by Council for a period of 28 days prior to Council considering it for approval.
When approved, all future development planning applications must then be 'generally in accordance with' the endorsed Development Plan. Any proposed changes to the plan would require further consideration and approval by Council.
