Ben Ellis - Korumburra

Ben may be a so-called new comer to Korumburra, but he has made a significant impact on the town in his time particularly in regards to the Korumburra Botanic Park.

Ben worked tirelessly in collaboration with Council and the Korumburra Community Development Association to be removed as a Section 86 committee and become an incorporation. This included many meetings with interested community members, finding information from past committees and details of the Indigenous people of the area. He also ensured the securing of funding to help make improvements to the Park and return it to its former glory.

The work didn’t stop there. Ben had continued to run working bees that include specialists in native plants and Landcare volunteers. He has also helped identify plants in the Park, both weed and otherwise to ensure they are documented and improved the safety of the Park for not just users, but those who neighbour it.

Ben is extremely passionate about the environment and loves enhancing the natural beauty of the places he lives in.

He has vast knowledge of what is required in achieving the best outcomes possible and his friendly, approachable manner makes Ben a pleasure to deal with and assist.
