Clive Hope - Meeniyan

Clive moved to Meeniyan in 1981, so you could say he has earnt the title of local by now.

Since that day he has worked tirelessly for the local community. In his time, he has been part of the:

  • Meeniyan Spors Stadium committee fundraising and co-trustee for Debentures.
  • Meeniyan Tennis Club secretary between 1982 and 1989.
  • Meeniyan Hall Committee Treasurer between 1994 and 2004.
  • Chairman of the Red Shield Appeal for the Salvation Army — Leongatha branch from 1995 to 1997.
  • President, Secretary, Treasurer and committee member of the Meeniyan Progress Association between 2002 and 2022.
  • Meeniyan Australia Day Committee Chairman between 2006 and 2016.

Clive is always putting his hand up to get things done for Meeniyan. His positive attitude has helped the community achieve many outcomes. One of these has been the Stony Creek Wetland’s Bird Hide.

Clive liaised with South Gippsland Water for two years during the pandemic to establish a bird hide along the Great Southern Rail Trail. The Hide utilises a piece of land between the Meeniyan Wastewater Treatment Plant wetlands and the Rail Trail to showcase the wetlands natural habitat. It has become a popular destination along the Rail Trail, which would not have been achieved without the leadership and relationships formed thanks to Clive.

Clive embodies honesty, empathy, integrity and respect for other community members and their rights and differences. He leads by example and reminds us all to better support our community.
