Councillor Clare Williams

Clare grew up in country New South Wales before she caught the travel bug and found South Gippsland with her partner BJ. When putting down their roots, it was important to them that they could find a lifestyle that supported their dreams of having a family and somewhere to support their business.

Clare has a Diploma in Community Services and a Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety.

Being involved in her community comes naturally to Clare. She has volunteered for many event groups in Leongatha including the Daffodil Festival, Leongatha Community Carols and Leongatha Business Association. She also holds a Director position on the Leongatha Community Foundation Board and holds an executive committee position on the Australian Local Government Women's Association of Victoria.

Everything Clare does is to inspire her children to take on challenges and the new opportunities you can discover when you put yourself out of your comfort zone. One of those was becoming a Councillor. Clare wanted to be part of strategic planning on how South Gippsland develops and changes for the better.

She watched people on Council miss their opportunity to contribute positively to their community and wanted to support Council to move forward from this and take advantage of those opportunities, and build confidence between Council and the community.

Clare is driven by the saying "The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit."
