Register a new pet

You can register your new pet (dog or cat) by one of the following options:

• Online registration link;
• Or download and complete the application form.
  • ​​​Email your completed application form and relevant supporting documentation to council@southgippsland.vic.gov.au;
  • Post your completed application form and relevant supporting documentation to Private Bag 4, Leongatha Vic 3953;
  • Or drop into one of our service centres at:
    - 9 Smith Street, Leongatha (Monday and Wednesday, 10am to 3pm).
    ​​​​​​​- 15 Little Commercial Street, Korumburra (Tuesday and Thursday, 10am to 3pm).

Annual Registration Period
Each registration period runs from 11 April to 10 April the following year as per the Domestic Animals Act 1994.

Applications made between late-February and 10 October are charged at the full year rate and made between 11 October and late-February are charged at the half year rate.

Renewals are run in late-February with notices sent out to pet owners in early March to allow enough time for payment.

Animal registration renewals must be paid by 10 April each year.
