Roadside Trading

Apply for a Roadside Trading Permit

If your business involves selling goods or services from a roadside location such as food vans, market stalls, or mobile vendors, you’ll need to apply for a Roadside Trading Permit. This permit helps regulate trading activities on public land and ensures they’re conducted safely and legally.

Approval Requirements

To be eligible for a permit, applicants must:

  • Comply with Council’s Local Laws and planning regulations.
  • Ensure the trading site does not obstruct traffic or pedestrians.

  • Maintain cleanliness and waste management at the site.

  • Provide adequate parking and access for customers.

  • Hold current public liability insurance (minimum coverage specified by Council).

Tips for a Successful Application

  • Be specific about your trading location and setup.

  • Include clear diagrams or photos if requested.

  • Double-check that your insurance certificate is current.

  • Allow time for Council review and approval, especially during peak periods.
