Container Deposit Scheme
The Container Deposit Scheme (CDS) is a state-wide recycling program that gives you 10 cents for every eligible drink container you return. It aims to reduce litter, increase recycling and turn used containers into new products.
Who Runs the Scheme?
The Container Deposit Scheme is a Victorian Government initiative. Participating locations around South Gippsland can be found on the CDS website here.
Even though the Scheme isn't run by Council, it plays an important role in reducing waste and improving recycling outcomes in our region. By participating, you can reduce what is in your recycling bins and help keep our region clean.
How It Works
- Collect eligible containers.
Look for the 10-cent mark on the back of the container. Most aluminium, glass, plastic, steel and liquid paperboard drink containers between 150ml and 3 litres are eligible. Find out more here.- Return to a refund point.
