| 1878 | Hill settlements established by Danish settlers to the East of Poowong. |
| 1884 | A mechanics institute and athenaeum, dating from locally sawn timber was constructed and hosted roller skating for several years. |
| 1892 | The Poowong butter factory was opened and livestock was sold through a saleyard attached to the Hotel. |
