Selectors began pushing south from Moe and Morwell into the Strzlecki Ranges. |
1885 |
Settlers were able to start planting crops and grew hops, arrowroot and later onions. |
1890 | A post office was established in a settlers home and named Dumbalk after the aboriginal word meaning bleak or chilly. Dairy farming became the most profitable farming activity with butter made on farms. |
1893 | A Dairy Cooperative was formed and a butter factory built. |
1900 | A hall was built along with a General Store. |
1903 | New butter factory built. |
1922 | Herd testing was introduced into the dairy industry. |
1957 | An artificial breeding centre was established. |
