Laila Witeveen

Laila has been an active Girl Guide and volunteer in her local community for many years, working enthusiastically as a Junior Leader and an active representative of the Leongatha Girl Guides.

Since 2015, she has energetically participated in various service activities, embodying a positive and friendly attitude as a devoted Girl Guide. Laila’s contributions extend to organisations such as:

• Leongatha Guides (Lyrebird Guides);

• Clean Up Australia;

• Greatest Morning Tea for Cancer Council;

• RSPCA;

• WWF;

• Australia Day and ANZAC Day services.

In 2021, Laila took on the role of Junior Leader for the Lyrebird Guides, committing her Wednesday afternoons to mentoring and being a considerate role model for her group aged 6 to 8 years. Her efforts include organising activities, fundraising for crucial causes including the RSPCA through initiatives like making and selling dog biscuits at local markets. She has also contributed to Clean Up Australia, Greatest Morning Tea for Cancer Council and assisted with Australia and ANZAC Day services. She was a founding member of the Leongatha ‘Pre-Ranger’ group that started in 2022 and participated in the Rotary Model United Nations Assembly. She also demonstrates strong support for her local volunteer emergency services including SES and CFA during their group visits.

Described as a considerate, kind and positive leader, Laila currently juggles completing a Certificate III in Child Care, pursuing her VCE, being a Junior Leader for Lyrebird Guides, and managing a part-time job.

She exemplifies the traits of a Girl Guide, upholding the Promise and Law while nurturing younger guides into patient, fun and caring contributors for the future. Laila’s selfless dedication significantly enhances the Girl Guide’s role in her local community.
