- Unnamed roads in the Korumburra Rail Precinct (map here).

- Footbridge connecting the Leongatha Rail Precinct and Bair Street.
- Walking Path between Burchett Drive and White Birch Close, Poowong (map here).
- Walking Path Proposal between Bradley Avenue and Canterbury Road, Venus Bay (map here).
These locations have been selected because they are newly constructed, planned road upgrades or were submitted as a community request.
Under the Naming Rules, South Gippsland Shire Council is a naming authority and is responsible for creating or changing the names of places, streets and roads in the Shire.
Things to Consider
The naming or renaming process gives us an opportunity to recognise the importance of local history, culture and identity of the area within South Gippsland.
In the Naming Rules, Council must be mindful of needing to achieve balanced representation of:
- Indigenous Australians.
- Gender equality.
- Local historical events or figures.
- A multicultural present.
Next Steps
- Consultation closes Sunday 27 September 2026.
- Once name proposals have been received, Council will put forward recommended names at the October 2026 Council Meeting.
- Following the meeting, feedback will be sought from the community on the recommended names.
- Council will then consider the community's feedback and provide the final names to the December 2026 Council Meeting for endorsement.
- The final names will then be submitted to Geographic Names Victoria for processing.
