Christmas Closure Dates

Our services operate at different times over the Christmas and New Year period.

As 2025 draws to a close, South Gippsland Shire Council would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year. Over the next few weeks, many Council services will be closed or operating at different times.

Customer Service Counter
Closed from 1.00pm Wednesday 24 December 2025, reopening Monday 5 January 2026 at 9.00am. Council staff will be available on the phone and online from Monday 5 January 2026 at 8.30am.

Bin Collections
Properties scheduled to have their kerbside bins emptied on Christmas Day will be serviced on Friday 26 December instead. This affects Leongatha and Leongatha South.

Maternal and Child Health
Services will continue to operate (except for public holidays) and are by appointment only. Please call 5662 9294 to make an appointment. For general support please call the Maternal and Child Health support line on 13 22 29.

Immunisation
Community Sessions will resume on Thursday 15 January.

Visitor Information Centre, Foster
Open seven days a week, 10.00am to 4.00pm. Closed Christmas Day. Phone 1800 630 704.

Coal Creek
Open seven days a week, 10.00am to 4.00pm. Last entry 3.30pm. Closed Christmas Day.

South Gippsland Citizen’s Advice Bureau and Visitor Information, Leongatha
Closed from 25 – 28 December and on New Year’s Day. Open 10.00am to 3.00pm weekdays and 10.00am to 1.00pm on Saturdays. Closed on Sundays. Phone 5662 2111.

Waste Management
All transfer stations and the Koonwarra landfill are also closed on Christmas Day. They operate as scheduled all other times. Check opening hours at sites or by clicking here.
