2027 Australia Day Award Nominations Now Open

Nominations for the 2027 South Gippsland Australia Day Awards are now open.

The awards are an opportunity to celebrate and recognise the people who make South Gippsland such an amazing place to live, work and play.

As per previous years, there are three categories to nominate for:

• Citizen of the Year: This award recognises an individual who has demonstrated exceptional service or contributions to our community. Think of someone who has made a significant impact because of their dedication and passion for our community.
• Young Citizen of the Year: This award highlights the achievements of a young person aged between 12 and 25 years. Think of someone who shows exceptional promise and makes a positive difference in their community through their actions, leadership or commitment.
• Community Event of the Year: This award celebrates an event that has brought our region together, showcased local spirit and made a significant contribution to our regional identity.

Nominations close Wednesday 4 November 2026 and can be made here.

All nominees will be recognised at an Awards Ceremony at the Meeniyan Hall on Wednesday 13 January 2027.
