Public Agenda Questions

Community members can submit up to three questions for each Council Meeting about items on the meeting agenda. Question time is held during a meeting that is open to the public.

To be considered, questions must:

  • Be clear, legible and easy to read;
  • Relate to business or functions of Council;
  • Relate to an item on the Council Meeting Agenda;
  • Be no more than 200 words (including background information);
  • Relate to a matter within the duties, functions and powers of Council and not relate to operational matters; and
  • Be submitted at least 24 hours prior to the date of the scheduled Council Meeting. Any question received outside of this timeframe may be held over to the following month's Council Meeting or, where appropriate, responded to by Council officers as a general customer request in accordance with our Customer Service Charter (within 10 business days).

For detailed information, please refer to Council's Governance Rules (Division 8 - Agenda Public Question Time).

If you have any questions or need further information, please contact our Governance team on 5662 9200 or council@southgippsland.vic.gov.au

Please Note: The ability for a person to read their own questions has recently been introduced at South Gippsland Shire Council.

A person may choose to read their question at a Council Meeting, however, attendance is not required at the Meeting for it to be read, responded to and recorded in the Minutes.
