Strategic Extractive Resource Areas (SERA)
Pilot Project - public consultation
The submission period has now ended for this project.
The SERA pilot project is an initiative of the State Government Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions (DJPR) and the Department of Environment Land Water and Planning (DELWP) in collaboration with South Gippsland Shire Council and the City of Wyndham Council.
The pilot project aims to trial new planning controls to secure long term supply of State significant extractive resource areas (sand and rock) in recognition of their importance to the economic growth of Victoria and the local economy.
The SERA proposes new planning scheme controls over existing quarry operations and on land containing potentially economically viable extractive resources. The SERA also proposes planning scheme measures to manage quarry buffer areas which may affect how land is used and developed.
If you are in the SERA pilot project area, it is important that you understand these proposed changes and how they may affect you.
