The Six Week Singers
About
South Gippsland Shire Council is seeking South Gippsland based singers to create a choir in just six short weeks.
Our Six Week Singers choir will rehearse for six weeks before performing in front of an audience on Friday 28 October with well-known songwriter Mama Kin and her band. The choir will be guided by choir master Virginia Botts.
Getting involved
Interested singers are asked to complete a short expression of interest outlining their singing experience and reason for wanting to be involved in the project. We are seeking 16 – 24 singers of all genders. The music is suited to sopranos, alto and tenor ranges, however bass singers are also welcome to sing the tenor down an octave. Preference will be given to singers based in South Gippsland Shire.
Singers must make a sincere commitment to attend all singing sessions which will be held:
- Every Monday (6-8pm) from 12 September – 17 October
- Final Rehearsals (6pm- 8pm) on Wednesday 26 and Thursday 27 October
- Final Concert (7pm – 9pm) on Friday 28 October.
All performances will be held at Memorial Hall in Leongatha. Scores, audio tracks and costumes will be provided.

This project is delivered as part of Council’s $2M COVID-19 Community Support Package, and is finally able to happen after many COVID- related postponements.
