Kerbside General Waste Collection
The material disposed of through your General Waste bin is buried in a landfill and is not recoverable.
Landfilling of materials is a last resort and should be avoided wherever possible through reducing, reusing and recycling.
Where does it go? Koonwarra Landfill.
How do I use my General Waste bin?
Use it to dispose of any accepted materials that can't be recycled through your FOGO or Mixed Recycling bins.
Make sure you put it out fortnightly on your collection day.
What items can go in my bin?
- Fruit and vegetable stickers.
- Soft plastics.
- Polystyrene/styrofoam.
- Broken glass.
- Pet food bags.
- Tissues.
- Disposable coffee cups, smoothie/milkshake cups and lids.
- Laminated, coated or lined paper and cardboard (e.g. straws, fish and chip paper, deli paper, plastic-lined takeaway containers.)
- Clothing and fabric.
- Small broken household items (e.g. toys, smoke detectors, coat hangers etc.) Ensure all batteries are removed.
- Ash and charcoal (completely cooled).
- Animal feaces and cat litter.
- Small, deceased animals (e.g. insects, spiders, birds, fish and rodents).
What items can't go in my bin?
- Anything in the 'Accepted' list for FOGO or Mixed Recycling.
- Items with a 'recyclable' Australasian Recycling Label (ARL).
