About
Redevelopment of the Korumburra Railway land provides additional public open space.
Stage One of the project is complete and includes:
- Improved car parking behind Commercial Street businesses (railway side).
- Upgrade of the Great Southern Rail Trail and connections through the Railway Precinct.
- Renewal of shelter and toilet block.
Funding
Funded as part of the Korumburra and Leongatha Railway Precincts Redevelopment Project which comprises:
- Australian Government's Building Better Regions Fund - $3 million.
- Victorian Government's Regional Infrastructure Fund - $2 million.
- South Gippsland Shire Council - $1 million.
Council has applied to 2026–27 Local Sports Infrastructure Fund for the construction of the Korumburra Railway Precinct - Community Play & Recreation Project.
- A new line marked multisport shooters court with basketball and netball rings.
- A new train inspired themed play space.
- Landscaping, seating, fencing and drainage.
- Pedestrian access - catering for all-abilities, connecting pathways to existing infrastructure.
