Registering, Transferring or Renewing Registration

Registering Prescribed Accommodation
To register prescribed accommodation you will need to:

  • Ensure the accommodation meets minimum standards
  • Complete the Registration Form
  • Have an accurate detailed floor plan to submit with the registration form

An invoice will be provided and must be paid prior to registration being issued – the registration fee will vary depending on the number of guests that can be accommodated and if food is provided or available.

Prescribed accommodation registration expires on 31 December each year, a pro-rata fee applies to new registrations issued after June 30.

Transferring Prescribed Accommodation Registration
Prescribed Accommodation registration can be transferred between parties by contacting Council. Council recommends that purchasers of accommodation businesses:

  • Check with the Environmental Health team to confirm the accommodation is registered (if required)
  • Request a pre-transfer inspection by one of Council's Environmental Health Officers (see fee schedule below)
  • Negotiate prior to sale if there are necessary works identified in the pre-transfer inspection.

A transferred registration will lapse on 31 December the year of transfer.

Renewing Prescribed Accommodation Registration
Prescribed Accommodation renewal notices are sent out in late October/early November each year. To renew registration the owner/operator of the accommodation must by 31 December:

  • Pay the fee listed on the renewal notice
  • Check the details of the accommodation listed on the renewal notice and advise Council if any of these details need to be updated.
