Rail Trail now open to Welshpool!
Rail-Trail-family-cycling A further 10 kms has been opened on the Great Southern Rail Trail, extending the experience from Toora to Welshpool. The section was celebrated by over 200 in Sagasser Park Toora before heading out on the latest segment in early February. You can also tackle the 6km track to the Port.Make a point to explore it with your family!
 
David Green is our new Citizen of the Year!
Eric Mould, Mayor Harding and David Green 25 nominees were honoured in the Australia Day awards, David was declared Citizen of the Year and the Community Event of the Year went to Meeniyan Town Tavern Night 30th Anniversary, accepted by Eric Mould. The Achievement Award for a Person with a Disability was jointly won by Emily Drysdale and Allan Summerfiled. Congratulations to all!
 
The Coal Seam Gas issue
Shire Logo Colour The new Victorian Government has extended the moratorium on CSG exploration until further parliamentary enquiry - toward the end of the year. Council plans to survey the community to ascertain its views on these issues. This may be done online or as a letterbox drop in July.
 
Local ANZACs to be recognised
Anzac_Signage_MarksBridge Approximately 55 World War 1 veterans are being honoured with ANZAC Centenary road signs in South Gippsland. It is expected that the new signs will be installed in time for the April celebrations
