Kerbside Collection Service

South Gippsland Shire Council's kerbside waste and recycling service aims to help the community recycle more, recover food and garden organics, and reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill (which keeps costs down).

A standard service includes:

  • Weekly 240L Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO).
  • Fortnighly 240L mixed recycling.
  • Fortnightly 120L general waste.

What goes in what bin is determined by the Victorian Government's Household Waste and Recycling Service Standard list.

Bins in a row

Click each button below to find out what goes in that bin.

When putting out your bins, make sure you:

  • Put them out before 6.00am on your collection day to avoid being missed.
  • Put them back in your property boundary within 24 hours.
  • Place them at least 30 centimetres apart so the truck can pick them up easily.
  • Face the handles away from the kerb.
  • Leave some space between your bins and obstacles like cars, trees, sign posts and light poles (about 1 metre).
  • Close the lid properly to avoid any sneaky animals getting in, or the wind blowing litter into the street.
  • Don't overfill your bin or place rubbish beside your bin - it won't get collected.
