Project 9: Station Street, Korumburra
Why this project?
Station Street is clearly linked to the Railway Precinct that contains the heritage listed Korumburra Railway Station and recreational facilities such as the Men's Shed, Women's Shed, skate park, BBQ shelter and access to the Great Southern Rail Trail. There is also a pedestrian tunnel that connects Station Street to Commercial Street - a vital pedestrian connection to the Korumburra CBD.
The presence of these facilities encourage pedestrian usage, however the long, straight and wide nature of Station Street tends to experience speeding vehicles.
What is involved?
The project will deliver speed cushions to slow traffic and provide overhead lighting at those cushions.
What are the benefits?
Vehicle speeds will reduced, which will improve safety for pedestrians accessing the Railway Precinct and CBD.
