Safe Local Roads and Street

Project 10: Horn Street, Leongatha

Why this project?

Given Horn Street's proximity to the town centre and its surrounding residential and educational uses, the street experiences a mix of traffic — residential, school, pedestrian and through traffic.

This project intends to cater to the residential and school zones by slowing through traffic and encouraging pedestrians to cross at designated locations.

What is involved?

  • A raised pedestrian crossing with central island will be installed at Ogilvy Street.
  • Speed cushions will be installed to support the speed limit of 40 km/h at the existing school crossing towards Jeffery Street.

What are the benefits?

The treatments will lower average vehicle speeds on Horn Street and make it safer for pedestrians and school children.
