Install or Alter a Septic Tank System

When building a house or extending to add more bedrooms in an unsewered area you will need to apply for a Permit to Install or Alter a Septic Tank System.

Permits are valid for two years and only allow the construction of the system outlined in the permit. In some cases it is necessary to Amend a Septic Permit or Extend the Permit Expiry Date.

In some cases a Report and Consent may also be applied for where quick approval is required to get a building permit.

If your system was installed by a previous owner you may wish to apply for Information on Your Septic System held by Council.

If you no longer require your septic system then you will need to Decommission a System.
